What Does Beard Styling Wax Do?
It gives you styling control when your beard or mustache is looking a little untidy. If you’re a beardsman who wants to make statement at a party or beard championship, wax will allow you to unleash the artist within and do all sorts of weird and wonderful things with your hair.
Styling waxes are also great for hydrating your beard. Most waxes are blended with power-packed carrier oils and shea butter, so you’ve already got badass moisture and softness going on, but the wax adds another element: protection.
No amount of dirt, wind, or heat is going to get through that. Your strands will remain encased, moist, and tidy.
Why Use Beard Styling Wax?
Not everyone needs a beard wax. If you’ve got a short and fairly uniform beard, you probably don’t need to add styling wax to your grooming routine. An oil, cream, or balm should set you up nicely.
However, if you’ve got thick or long growth, it can help you rein in rogue hairs and keep them in check for the whole day. You’ll also smell pretty damn good if your wax is lightly scented.
How to Apply Beard Styling Wax
Scrape out a small amount of wax and soften it between your palms (or thumb and forefinger if you’ve got a mustache) until it’s liquefied.
If it’s a particularly cold day, you might want to put the jar (with the lid on!) under some hot water to soften it up. This is important because applying solid wax will leave flakes on your beard.
